Iridology – the art of reading the iris of a person - reveals a lot about a person’s hereditary tendencies and genetic strengths and weaknesses.

What is Iridology?
Iridology is a quick, accurate, non-invasive and painless system of health analysis through the examination of the coloured part of the eye, known as the iris. The health analysis is made through careful examination of different markings and pigments in the iris, which reflect herditary tendencies and genetic strengths and weaknesses.
The greatest advantage of Iridology over other forms of health screening is that changes appear in the iris before any physical symptoms develop.
History
The correlation between parts of the eyes and parts of the body have already been mentioned in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian scripts, about 1000 BC. The story of modern iridology begins in the nineteenth century with a physician from Hungary, Dr Ignatz von Peczely (1826-1911). He has done a lot of research and the understanding evolved that much of what is seen in the eyes is a predisposition to disease, which formed the basis of modern iridology. The American Dr Bernard Jensen (1908-2002), inspired by Peczly's research wrote many books about Iridology which are considered excellent references.
How does it work?
The optic nerve, which is actually a nerve bundle, comprised of hundreds of thousands of individual nerve fibres. Some of the fibres in the optic nerve terminate in the iris, thus there is a nerve pathway over which messages travel back and forth between the brain and the iris. When an iridologist looks into an eye, he is looking at a 'monitor screen', a surface that is displaying the tissue integrity in other parts of the body. Information about the condition of these remote tissues is routed first to the brain, via spinal cord pathways, then to the eye, for display on the iris. The iris is indicating the functional ability and inherent structural make up of the distant tissues.
